Kat Danser

WEBSITE
Edmonton-based guitarist, songwriter, and vocalist Kat Danser brought her Swamp Blues to Lunenburg Folk Harbour Festival in 2008. She returns for our 25th anniversary, bringing her Weissenborn Hawaiian lap slide guitar, vintage acoustic Gibson, and National steel resophonic slide guitar, and maybe even a Zydeco scrubboard. Born in Saskatchewan, Danser's musical life began early; an uncle gave her a button accordion when she was five. She's now enrolled in graduate studies in ethnomusicology at the University of Alberta and creating documentary films, including Rails and Rivers: Searching for the Heart of the Blues, along with two recordings, Ascension (2002) and Somethin' Familiar (2007). Kat will be warmly welcomed back to Lunenburg by audiences who appreciate informed and authentic roots music.
