Six siblings, two languages, a host of instruments, and multiple ECMA awards add up to a long and successful musical career for Kyle, Lucy, Sheumas, Stewart, Boyd, and Ryan MacNeil. Starting with a self-titled recording in 1986, The Barra MacNeils have released 14 albums, each one exploring the musical traditions of their Cape Breton Gaelic heritage. The band's live performances blend stories and dance with traditional and original songs, alongside fine musicianship on fiddle, piano, Celtic harp, bouzouki, tin whistle, bodhran, accordion, flute, and guitars. Joined by bass player Jamie Gatti, the group has been touring internationally. With Festival appearances going back to 1992 and 1994 we are pleased to have The Barras here for our 25th.
